Dan Kaufman (Retired/Founder)

Dan has been a runner since the early 70’s and been involved with the Fort Wayne running community and Fort Wayne Track Club in various ways over that time. He has run numerous competitive road races including 25 marathons and one ultra. Still is an active runner.

Dan has been coaching the Cardegles since 1997 and has seen the program grow from just a few runners to over sixty runners and recognized as a very competitive middle school cross country program in the area.

Presently retired, former underwriter for Swiss Re. Member of St. Charles Parish. Married to Susan with three children, Christopher, Brian and Kari (Samons) as well as nine grandchildren. Graduate of Bowling Green State University.

Dan along with Scott Reiling founded the Cardegles when the teams from St. Charles and St. Jude combined.  After the 2024 Season Dan along with Scott Reiling and Tim O’Connell retired.
